Safety instructions and measures

1.4  Special instructions concerning explosion protection

Equipment for use in zone 2/zone 22

Î

In equipment operated according to type of protection Ex nA II (non-sparking equip

-

ment) according to EN 60079-15: 2003, circuits may be connected, interrupted or
switched while energized only during installation, maintenance or repair.

Î

Guide wires for the set point through the cable gland to the terminals 11 (+) and 12
(–) located on the housing.

Î

Connect the ground connection inside or outside of the housing.

Servicing explosion-protected devices

Î

Observe the following for servicing equipment in a section relevant for explosion pro-
tection:

The equipment must not be put back into operation until a qualified inspector has

assessed the equipment according to explosion protection requirements, has is-

sued an inspection certificate or given the device a mark of conformity. Inspection
by a qualified inspector is not required if the manufacturer performed a routine

test on the device before putting it back into operation. Document the passing of
the routine test by attaching a mark of conformity to the device.

– Replace explosion-protected components only with original, routine-tested compo-

nents by the manufacturer.

Devices that have already been operated outside hazardous areas and are in

-

tended for future use inside hazardous areas must comply with the safety require

-

ments placed on serviced devices. Before being operated inside hazardous areas,
test the devices according to the specifications for servicing explosion-protected

devices.

Maintenance, calibration and work on equipment

Î

Only use intrinsically safe current/voltage calibrators and measuring instruments for

interconnection with intrinsically safe circuits to check or calibrate the equipment in-

side or outside hazardous areas.

Î

Observe the maximum permissible values specified in the certificates for intrinsically

safe circuits.
