Mounting and start-up
6.1 Mounting positions
Standard mounting position
Types 43-1 and 43-2
can be mounted in
any position when the medium temperature
is between –20 and +80 °C.
Installation conditions
Î
Make sure that the regulator remains
freely accessible after the plant has been
completed.
Î
Install a strainer upstream of the regula-
tor (see section 6.3.1).
Î
Make sure the direction of flow matches
the direction indicated by the arrow on
the body.
Î
Install the regulator free of stress.
Possible malfunction and damage due to ad-
verse weather conditions (temperature, hu-
midity).
−
Do not install the device outdoors or in
rooms prone to frost.
−
Protect the regulator against frost if it is
used to control freezing media.
−
Either heat the regulator or remove it from
the plant and completely drain the residual
medium after a plant shutdown.
NOTICE
!
6.2 Temperature sensor
Î
Galvanic corrosion due to incorrectly se-
lected materials of the mounting parts.
On installing the sensor or thermowell, only
combine the same kind of materials (e.g.
stainless steel with stainless steel or copper
together with other copper materials).
The temperature sensor (19), even together
with a thermowell (20), can be installed in
any position as required. However, make
sure its entire length is immersed in the pro-
cess medium to be controlled. It must be in-
stalled in a location where overheating or
considerable idling times cannot occur.
If the sensor is to be used with a thermowell,
only use original SAMSON thermowells.
Weld a welding socket with G ½ or G ¾ fe-
male thread (to match the screw gland) at
the place of installation.
Î
Seal the screw gland of the sensor.
