Chapter V Spectrum analyzer Mode
Section 1 Basic Operation
This section will briefly introduce the measurement functions and measurement methods of
S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer in spectrum analyzer (SA) mode, so that the first-time users can
have a general understanding of the test process after reading this section and make basic
measurements.
1
Select mode
After starting, press
【
Mode
】
→[Spectrum Analyzer] to select the SA mode, and press [OK] to complete
the mode setting.
2
Set the reference level
Set the reference level in SA mode. Press
【
Amplitude
】
→[Ref Level], enter the value with the figure key,
and select corresponding unit on the touch screen to complete the entering. For example, press
【
Amplitude
】
→[Ref Level]→[0]→[dBm] to set the reference level to 0dBm.
3
Set the center frequency
Press
【
Frep
】
. This operation is to activate the function of setting center frequency, and enable the
information input area to display current center frequency and the soft menu to display the content
corresponding to the
【
Frep
】
key. Set the center frequency to 300MHz. Directly enter
【
Frep
】
→[Center
Freq]→[3], [0], [0]→[MHz] with the keys in the front panel data area, and then press [MHz]. Such figure
keys can be used to set the exact value of current parameter, and the step key and rotary knob can also
be used to change the center frequency.
4
Set the span
Press
【
Frep
】
→[Span>]. Note whether span data is displayed in the information input area to determine
the currently activated parameters. Reduce the span, for example to 20MHz, by typing [2], [0] with the
data keyboard and selecting the unit [MHz], or by stepping down to the value with the [↓] key (both the
figure key and the step key can be used to change the value of current parameter). Press [Span Zero] or
[Span Full] to set the minimum or the maximum span. Press [Span Pre] to set the previous span.
5
Activate the marker
The S5105D/E/F microwave analyzer is provided with up to eight markers for reading
measurement results. Press
【
Mkr
】
→[Sel Mkr]→[Mkr 1], [Mkr 2]...[Mkr 7], [Mkr 8] to select the
currently displayed marker. Each marker has two operating modes, namely, normal and delta. Set the
marker to delta mode.
Press
【
Mkr
】
→[Delta Mkr], and directly enter the frequency difference, or press [↑] [↓] or rotate the pulser
to move the marker for viewing the frequency difference and amplitude difference.
Press [Peak]→[Max], [Min] to make the instrument automatically search for the maximum and minimum
values of the measured track and search for the peak value of the marker, including [Peak], [Sub Peak],
[Right Peak], [Left Peak], etc. Or move the marker via the
