2. How to Make a Fault Diagnosis
Procedure 1. Confirmation of trouble
1) Make inquiries about the following items
upon request of repair from customer.
• Customer’s name
• Model and serial number of machine in question
• Work site and working condition etc.
2) Seize outline of trouble by questioning.
• Details of trouble
• Details of work when trouble has occured
• Details of working environment
• Information on services conducted in the
past
Procedure 2. Estimation of source of trouble
1) Determine source of trouble by referring
to “FAULT DIAGNOSIS” in this manual.
Procedure 3. Preparation of necessary tools
for diagnosis
1) Prepare tools recommended in this manual.
• Tester and extension cable etc.
• Pressure gauge etc.
2) Prepare spare parts referring to the parts
catalogue.
Procedure 4. Going to site where the faulty
machine stays idle.
Procedure 7.
• Fault diagnosis
• Determination of remedy
1) Before diagnosis, find out and correct simple
failures. Do the following:
• Daily inspections
• Other inspections required
2) With reference to “FAULT DIAGNOSIS” in this manual,
make a diagnosis by following proper diagnosis flow
chart best applicable to correct the trouble.
Procedure 5. Getting detailed information from operator
concerning the trouble
• Had there been any unusual signs before the trouble
has occured?
• Had the trouble occured all of a sudden without any
unusual signs in advance?
• Had the machine been repaired before the trouble
has occured?

Procedure 6. Making the machine recur the trouble
• By letting the machine travel or perform the work,
check to see if the trouble is attributable to a serious
cause like the defective component parts or if the
trouble has been caused by improper handling.
