NUMBER 160
SAILOR TRANSMITTER T2131 AND T2135 ERROR 83
We have noted an increased error rate as regards error 83, too low output power.
The Reason;
for this error is either the drive level being too high or overload of the power amplifier.
Both of these conditions result in excess voltage in the power amplifier. This causes the
power supply to reduce the voltage, which creates a reverse voltage over the basis col-
lector diode in the output transistors resulting in a short circuit.
The Solution; A protection circuit has been developed, which adjust the drive level to the voltage in
the amplifier. This circuit “Protection Unit Module 19” is mounted. Furthermore, the trans-
mitter is calibrated as described in Chapter 3, “Calibration”, in the Service Manual.
Mounting;
The existing cable 526917 between the power amplifier and the connection board is dis-
mounted and replaced by 730142, protection unit with cables. Please see the enclosed
diagram and outline.
Spares;
Protection Unit Module 19 can be ordered free of charge at S.P. Radio A/S in return for
information about the transmitter’s serial number. The S.P. number is 730142.
If you should have any questions in relation to the above, please do not hesitate to contact the service
department at S.P. Radio A/S, Phone; +45 96 34 61 00 or fax; +45 96 34 61 01.
