Installation Guide
For Installation in Unmade/Gravel Surfaces
You will need:
•
Post hole digger or shovel
•
Concrete or concrete mix and water
•
Spirit Level
•
Shovel
•
Measuring Tape
•
Trowel
What to do:
1.
Read all the instructions from beginning to end first.
2.
Determine exactly where the bike rack will be placed and mark your installation positions. If you are
installing more than one bike rack, it is a good idea to mark the ground and use a string line to
ensure that you have a straight line to assist you with the correct placement of your bike racks.
3.
Mark the ground at the centre point of where each of the bike rack bars will go into the ground.
Your aim is to make sure that the centre of the hole is also the centre of each of the bike rack bars.
4.
Dig a hole in the gravel or dirt. The width of your hole should be 300mm x 300mm. The hole should
be approximately 300-400mm deep.
5.
Prepare the concrete according
to the manufacturer’s instructions
.
6.
Place the bike rack into the hole and use your level to ensure that it is vertical.
7.
It is advisable to place some crushed rock or gravel at the bottom of the hole to act as drainage in
the event of water seepage.
8.
Shovel the concrete around the base of the bike rack bars, moving the concrete and packing it
down around the bars as you fill the holes to surface level. Both anchor rods must be covered with
concrete and the concrete should be level with the existing surface. Re-check that your bike racks
are vertical.
9.
Ensure the surface of the concrete around the bike rack is flat to eliminate any trip hazards by using
a trowel to smooth off the surface.
10.
Observe the cure time of the concrete, usually 48 hours, to complete the bike rack installation. You
may want to protect the bike rack from interference during this time.
For Installation in Pre-Existing Concrete Surfaces
We highly recommend you engage a professional core driller to complete the installation.
For this bike rack, the size of the hole to be core drilled is recommended at approximately 60mm in
diameter and 250mm deep. The bike rack should be installed at 900mm above the surface.
Safety Xpress recommends you put the safety of yourself and others first when installing your bike rack.
Please be mindful of using and wearing the correct safety gear.
