Installation & Setup
Before you Begin
Before you Begin
The ZoneSwitch is designed to be installed with fairly minimal effort and basic tools. Please
be sure to read all installation guidelines and prepare all necessary tools and associated
hardware for proper installation to avoid damage to the equipment or harm to users.

One Mounting Kit Including:

Four Rubber Feet
• Two Rackmount Brackets
• Eight Chassis Screws
• Four Rack Screws
■
One Power Cord
■
One Console Cable
■
Other documentation including registration card, declaration of conformity, warranty/
software license agreement may be available in the individual product packaging.
Equipment
■
A PC or Laptop (Admin PC) running Windows 2000, XP, Server, Vista, 7, or MAC OSX
10.4/5/6.
■
Internet Explorer 6 or later, Firefox 3.5 or later, or Safari 3.0 installed on Admin PC.
■
A grounded electrical power strip or surge suppressor to protect from circuit over-
loading.
■
A sturdy and level desktop or shelf area (for desktop installation)
■
A standard EIA 19-inch wide rack with an available 1RU space (for Rack Mount
Installation).
■
Tools for installing the hardware (a Phillips #1 screw driver).
■
Network cables to connect the switch to other computers and devices (Cat-5, Cat-5e,
or Cat-6 cables for RJ-45 ports 1 to 24, and optical fiber cables for SFP ports 21 to 24).
Environment
■
Only install and operate the ZS4124/4224 in a well ventilated area with adequate air
flow for heat dissipation.
■
Do not operate the device in areas with intense heat (113ºF/45ºC) or moisture.
■
Do not mount or operate the ZS4124/4224 in a rack with uneven mechanical loading.
