Command Line Interface
Basic System Management Commands
hostname
Specifies the system hostname.
Command Mode: Global Configuration
Syntax
[no] hostname <hostname>
Description
■
<hostname>
- Sets the system host name. May be up to 50 characters. There is no
default host name.
■
no hostname
- Clears (disables) the system host name.
Example
!Sets system host name to "switch_1"
Switch(config)#
hostname
switch_1
Switch(config)#
!Clears (disables) system name
Switch(config)#
no hostname
Switch(config)#
monitor enable
Enables the monitor function after setting a monitor port. Disabled by default.
Command Mode: Global Configuration
Syntax
[no] monitor enable
Example
!Enables monitor.
Switch(config)#
monitor enable
Switch(config)#
!Disables monitor (default).

no monitor enable
