SurroundControl 31900/31960 Series
6.7.5 | Muting individual channels
To mute one individual channel, please proceed as fol-
lows:
1. On Remote Control 30050 press the small black
Select
key on the left until the
Cut
LED lights up. The corres-
ponding key on the control panel of the 31960 series is
located on the right nearly in the middle.
2. Press the channel key you want to mute. If the Surround
Sound Analyzer display is visible on the screen, the accor-
ding loudspeaker symbol of that channel will turn red.
3. Press the channel key again to listen to this channel
again.
The channel keys can be used in radio button style so that
only one channel at a time is performing the selected func-
tion (Solo, Cut, Phase), cancelled by the next key pressed.
Alternatively, an adding mode can be set. Please refer to
the corresponding paragraph in the PDF version of the
operating manual for details about how to change this glo-
bal setting on the
Key Settings
menu page using the
Key
Settings
menu tab.
6.7.6 | Switching polarity of individual channels
To switch the polarity of one individual channel, please
proceed as follows:
1. On Remote Control 30050 press the small black
Select
key on the left until the
Phase
LED lights up. The corre-
sponding key on the control panel of the 31960 series is
located on the right nearly in the middle.
2. Press the channel key which you want to change the
polarity for. If the Surround Sound Analyzer display is
visible on the screen, the according loudspeaker symbol
of that channel will turn to a green outline and the channel
labeling is signed with
^
.
3. Press the channel key again to switch back the polarity of
this channel.
The channel keys can be used in radio button style so that
only one channel at a time is performing the selected func-
tion (Solo, Cut, Phase), cancelled by the next key pressed.

6.7.7 | Swapping channels
Sometimes it is helpful to judge the surround channels of a
5.1 signal by listening to them through the front instead of the
rear loudspeakers. The
Swap
function provides an easy way to
switch certain channels to other loudspeakers temporarily.
Please proceed as follows:
1. On Remote Control 30050 press the small black
Select
key on the left until the
Swap
LED lights up. The corre-
sponding key on the control panel of the 31960 series
is located on the right nearly in the middle. The channel
keys now act as swap keys performing the swap function
labeled below the channel keys.
2. Press the channel key performing the swap function you
want to use. If the Surround Sound Analyzer display is
visible on the screen, some according loudspeaker sym-
bols of certain channels will turn red. The names of the
switched channels are always labeled in brackets next to
the symbols of the channels they are switched to.
3. To return to normal output routing, press the channel key
again.
In Swap mode the channel keys are always confi gured in
the radio button style so that only one channel at a time is
performing the selected function, cancelled by the next key
pressed.
