2.2
Assembly actuator
Valves are normally delivered with actuator already fitted on valve. For removing or changing actuator please refer to installation
and operating instructions of actuators.
caution!:
The valve spindle of valves with
bellows seal
shall not be twisted (this can destroy the sealing).
If actuator is removed the valve can be pressed at the top because of the pressure in the valve.
2.3
Electrical connection
Electrical connection of actuator is done according to operating and installation instructions of actuators.
caution!:
Switch off power as per instructions
Before connecting compare type of current, power and frequency with data on name plate of actuator.
2.4
Pneumatic connection
Provide every valve with a separate pressure regulator to prevent disconnection risk.
caution!:
Avoid moist air in all cases to prevent condensate in system. Especially positioners need dry, oil free instrument
air.
3
Commissioning
Valves are already adjusted and testing of function is done at work shop. An adjustment is therefore not necessary.
Start up may only be started when the items of chapter
“ 2 Installation and connection”
are done.
At start up following items has to be regarded:
•
leakage of spindle and valve
For valves with spindle sealing pure graphite the sealing can be tightened carefully till leakage is stopped. All other spindle
sealing systems have pretensioned spring system, which does not require any retightening.
attention!:
strenuous tightening will cause high friction, which aggravates the movement of spindle.
Flange connections bolts should never be loosened of tightened when valve is under temperature of pressure, even if a
leakage may arise.
•
check of sizing
In normal operation mode valve should operate at 70 to 100 % of maximum stroke.
Max. flow rate not reached:
check if valve is really 100 % open
check if check valves are opened and strainers are cleaned.
check if actual operating data correspond with design data
valve operates at small stroke:
To prevent premature wear of valve the design of valve should be adopted to the
actual operating data.
Measures should be discussed with manufacturer.
•
checking of control
In all cases check control loop is stable. Unstable control loop (constantly moving back and forth one step) causes
premature wear. In this case please contract with manufacturer.
For electric actuators the time gap between change of direction of actuator should be at least 200 ms. The minimal
stepping time in one direction should be least 50 ms.
To prevent premature wear, hunting at the point of closure has to be avoided.
