Introduction:
The smart battery charger can be used to set RRC SMBUS batteries (Smart Batteries) with
form factors RRC2020, 2024, 2040 or RRC smart batteries with a similar footprint e.g. 202x
range, 204x range. 205x range, DR36 etc. into the shipping mode within about 30% rate of
charge.
Caution:
Only batteries that comply with the Data Specification 1.0 or 1.1 can be charged with this
battery charger. Other rechargeable batteries or conventional batteries may not be used.
Making Connections
1.
Connect the cable from the mains adapter to the battery charger.
2.
Connect the power cable to the mains adapter and plug it into the mains socket.
3.
The LED is going out after the selftest of the battery charger. The battery charger is ready for use.
4.
If the red control lamp remains on and no battery is in the charger, the battery charger is defective.
Set Batteries into Shipping Mode
1.
Connect the battery charger as described above.
2.
Insert a smart battery into the battery charger.
3.
The battery charger processes a battery detection and initialisation.
4.
Leave the battery until the control led switches to green.
5.
Then the battery is in shipping mode. Remove the battery.
Usage of spacer
So that the battery RRC2020 or one with a similar form factor can be used, the spacer shown below (Figure 1) must
be used. The spacer is inserted like in figure 2 & 3 until it snaps. After that, the battery can be inserted for charging
(Figure 4). For the use of other battery types the spacer must be removed again.

LED Indications
One time Red/Orange/Green
Self test: Charger is ready for use.
Green / Red blinking
Charger identifies inserted battery.
Orange
The battery ASOC is below 25%. The battery is being charged.
Orange blinking
The battery ASOC is greater equal 25%. The battery is being
discharged.
Greeen
The battery is in ship mode.
Red
The battery was not set in the ship mode.
Red blinking
The temperature of the battery is too low or too high.
This battery charger may not be located in the vicinity of a patient.
In accordance with EN60601-1-1, the horizontal distance must be at least 1.5 meters.
Do not insert a fully charged battery into the charger repeatedly. Due to the high initial
charge, the battery could be overcharged which could lead to damage to the battery and
to the battery charger
Use the battery charger only in dry indoor environments! Wet and moisture covered
products should not be used!
