Synergy Series Operation Guide (v18)
Use the following procedure to fly a key:
1. Ensure that the
Squeeze & Tease Option
is installed in the selected MLE. The
FLY
KEY
button will not light if the option is not installed.
2. Note the following important rules for the
FLY KEY
button. These rules apply to both
the MLE keyers and the downstream keyers:
•
You can only fly
one
Auto Select Key
in an MLE at a time. If one keyer is already
flying an
Auto Select Key
, you cannot enable the
FLY KEY
button in the other
keyer.
•
In an MLE, you can fly
any combination
of
Preset Pattern Keys
,
Chroma Keys
or
Self Keys
— one in keyer 1 and the other in keyer 2.
3. Set up the desired key type and source, and clip the key using the controls in the
Effects
Control
group.
4. In the selected
MLE
keyer (or
Downstream
keyer), press
FLY KEY
. The key is now
re-routed through the
internal
DVE.
•
If the key is a
Self Key
,
Chroma Key
or
Auto Select Key
, you can now size and
position the key and apply a variety of special Fly Key modifiers such as mirror,
crop and freeze.
Each Fly Key modifier is detailed below. Clip and gain can be used in the normal
manner.
•
If the key is a
Preset Pattern Key
, the pattern itself does
not
become the border.
Please note:
~
Preset Pattern
keys can be bordered using the keyer’s border controls. The
Dual Border Generator
option must be installed. See the “
Bordering Keys
”
section for instructions.
~
Preset Pattern
modifiers (e.g., clip, gain, aspect, border, soft) do not affect
what is on screen.
~
Fly Key
modifiers (e.g., size, position, mirror, crop, freeze) are enabled using
the
Squeeze & Tease Menus
.
When
FLY KEY
is pressed,
Squeeze & Tease Menu 1-2
is displayed.
Note
instructions on how to verify the status of your installed hardware and
software options.
Note
When you press
PST PATT
, the system
automatically
selects
FLY
KEY
,
automatically
selects a box wipe by default, and displays the
Squeeze & Tease
menu.
