Setting Up Safe Title and Center Preview Overlay
The Safe Title/ Center Preview Overlay places a SMPTE standard Safe Title and Safe Action grid,
Minimum Text lines, and Center Cross-hairs on the preview screen. The default positions of the Safe
Title and Safe Action Grid, Minimum Text, and the Cross-hairs are modifiable. These modified
positions can be renamed and saved for recall as macros. Refer to the section “
Safe Title ” on
page 8–29 for configuration details.

The following figure illustrates the portion of the menu tree that is used for accessing the Safe Title.

Safe Title Overlay
• The Safe Title box (inner box) outlines the area that the vast majority of home TV sets
will be able to read text inside of.
• The Safe Action box (outer box) outlines the region that viewers should be able to
follow action. The borders of the Safe Action box track with the borders of the Safe Title
box.
