Synergy 1 and Synergy 100 Maintenance Guide (v16-S1)
Frame Tally Board Installation
The Synergy 1 switcher includes 16
configurable
frame tally relays, each of which can be assigned to
any video input or to the program output. The
Frame Tally Board
(4216A-004)
installs on the
Frame
Motherboard
(4216A-002) at the rear of the Synergy 1 frame.
Installing the Frame Tally Board
Use the following procedure to install the
Frame Tally Board
:
1. Power down the Synergy 1 frame and its connected panel.
2. Remove the front panel cover of the frame, which is fastened with two sliding clips on
each side of the cover.
3. Remove all of the screws (there should be 17) from the top panel of the frame and
carefully lift the top off. This will expose the inside of the Synergy 1 frame.
4. Unpack the new
Frame Tally Board
. Note that it has two 32-pin dual row connectors
(
J6
,
J7
). Note also that there are no jumpers, LEDs, or other adjustments present on the
board.
5. Identify the two 32-pin headers (
J6
,
J7
) in the center of the
Frame Motherboard
.
6. Install the
Frame Tally Board
as follows:
•
Hold the
Frame Tally Board
with the Ross Video logo at the top and the
components facing toward the
Frame Motherboard
.
•
Carefully align the
Frame Tally Board
so that its 32-pin connectors match the
32-pin headers on the
Motherboard
.
•
Use your fingers to “feel” for the proper pin-to-socket alignment.
•
While applying gentle, forward pressure, slowly rock the board until it is fully
seated. Avoid flexing the board so as not to bend the pins.
•
After installation, “sight” behind the board at the connector level, to make sure that
there are no exposed pins.
•
Secure the
Frame Tally Board
onto the posts on the
Frame Motherboard
,
with
the two 4-40 machine screws (supplied).
7. When you have finished installing the
Frame Tally Board
on the
Frame
Motherboard
, carefully replace the top panel of the frame by securing the 17 screws
that were previously removed and replace the front cover.
8. Power on the Synergy 1 frame.
9. Power on the Synergy 1 control panel.
This completes the procedure to install the
Frame Tally Board
.
Caution
Observe all static discharge precautions throughout the procedure.
Caution
Failure to install a board with a precise 1:1 pin-to-socket orientation
will damage the
Frame Motherboard
, the
Frame Tally Board
— or
both! Double check your work!
