Synergy 1 and Synergy 100 Maintenance Guide (v16-S1)
Option Boards • 4–5
9. If desired, repeat steps 5 through 8 to time the other available Aux Bus.
10. (
Revision 4 board only
) Re-install the
SIMM Stabilizer Brackets
as follows:
•
Carefully positioning the
SIMM Stabilizer Brackets
on top of the SIMMs as per
the diagram on on page 4–4.
•
Installing and tightening the four mounting screws. Do not
over-tighten
to avoid
damage to the board.
11. Replace the
Frame Processor Board
assembly in the Synergy frame, ensuring it is
firmly seated.
12. Power on the Synergy 1 frame.
This completes the installation procedure. Note that there is no software installation required for this
option.
Testing the Aux Bus Output
You can now test the Aux Bus output in several ways:
•
Route the selected Aux Bus output to a monitor, and switch between two signals on the
Aux Bus or Remote Aux Panel — for example, a primary input and program signal that
you know may
not
be perfectly timed. The signals should now switch seamlessly.
•
Route the selected Aux Bus output to the input of a DVE, and switch between two or
more signals. While monitoring the output of the DVE, there should be no green flashes
on the monitor (flashes that are typically associated with untimed sources).
Removing a Timed Aux Bus
This procedure is typically required if you need to replace a faulty
Serializer
or
De-serializer
module
on another Aux Bus circuit — or you simply want to move a timed Aux Bus from one Aux Bus output
to another.
Use the following procedure to remove a timed Aux Bus:
1. Power down the Synergy 1 frame.
2. Carefully remove the
Frame Processor Board
assembly from the Synergy frame, and
set it on a clean, flat, static free surface.
3. If you have Revision 4 of the
Frame Processor Board
, you will need to remove the
SIMM Stabilizer Brackets
(refer to the figure on page 4–6) as follows:
•
Loosen and remove the four screws that attach the stabilizer brackets to the frame
processor board.
•
Remove the brackets and set aside with the screws in a safe place for later
re-installation.
Caution
Observe all static discharge precautions throughout the procedure.
