GPI Switch Operation
This section briefly outlines the operating modes when using GPI Switch control.
GPI Level Operation
To control the card by GPI Level, use the following jumper configurations:
• Set
JP3
to
GPI
. This enables input selection to be controlled by GPI.
• Set
JP11
to
LEVEL
. This enables input selection to be determined via GPI levels on BNC 7 and 8.
In this mode, the DSS-8224 can operate either as a 4x1 switch, or a Dual 2x1 switch.
4x1 Switch Operation
If the card is configured as a 4x1 switch, the GPIs are binary encoded, and Output 2 tracks Output 1. Input selection
is as follows:
Dual 2x1 Switch Operation
If the card is configured as a Dual 2x1 switch, Output 1 is controlled by GPI 1. Output 2 can be controlled
independently by GPI 2, or can track Output 1. Input selection for Output 1 is as follows:
• GPI 1 Open Input 1
• GPI 1 Short Input 2
GPI Level Operating Modes
The following operating modes are available when using GPI Level control:
