Connecting a Video Reference to NK Series Routing Switchers
All NK Series video and audio routing switchers accept a video reference. If connected, this ensures that switching
occurs in the vertical interval across all router levels, that is, a switching pulse that complies with RP168:
• line 6 for SD (PAL reference)
• line 10 for SD (NTSC reference)
• line 7 for HD (1080i)
• line 7 for HD (720p)
• line 7 for 3G
The non-locked switching pulse is free-running.
To connect the video referencing signal
1. Connect a 75
coaxial cable between the video reference signal output and one of the
VID REF
connectors
(75
BNC) on the rear panel of the routing switcher.
2. Do one of the following:
• Connect the remaining
VID REF
connector on the rear panel of the routing switcher to a
VID REF
connector on the rear panel of another routing switcher using a 75
coaxial cable.
• Connect the remaining
VID REF
connector on the rear panel of the routing switcher to a 75
BNC
termination.
3. Continue looping the
VID REF
connectors across the routing switchers that you want to have switching
simultaneously.
The last routing switcher in the video referencing loop must have a 75
BNC termination connected to its spare
VID REF
connector.
Installing DashBoard
DashBoard can be downloaded at http://www.rossvideo.com/dashboard.
DashBoard is used to configure and operate NK systems and individual NK Series devices.

Connecting to the NK-IPS in the Routing Switcher System
Before you can set up and send a configuration document to the routing switcher, you must connect an NK-IPS to
the routing switcher. Once DashBoard locates the NK-IPS, the attached devices are visible and can have
configuration documents sent to them.
By default, DashBoard attempts to auto-detect the NK-IPS on the network. If the device is not detected
automatically, the NK-IPS can be manually added using the
New NK IPS Connection
window in DashBoard.
To connect to the NK-IPS
1. Open
DashBoard
.
2. In the
Basic Tree View
, locate the NK-IPS of the routing system to which the NK-3G144 has been connected.
3. Double-click the NK-IPS icon to expand the node.
The connected devices are listed below the NK-IPS icon.
4. Ensure the NK-3G144 is listed in the devices connected to the selected NK-IPS.
