NWE-IP User Guide (v5.0)
If this LED is not lit green, verify that the settings of your network switch allow 1Gig communication.
Cabling for Protection Switching
The NWE-IP enables a user to protect their streams to ensure mission critical operation. Using SMPTE ST 2022-7
they can run the same audio over two separate, redundant networks in case an error occurs with any hardware.
This section is only applicable if your system requires protection switching.
To cable the protection switching connection for the NWE-IP
1. Connect one end of a standard RJ45 cable to the
NET2
port on the NWE-IP rear panel.
2. Connect the other end of the same RJ45 cable to your Local Area Network (LAN).
3. Verify that the bottom right LED of the
NET2
port is lit green. This indicates that the connection is 1Gig.
If this LED is not lit green, verify that the settings of your network switch allow 1Gig communication.
Connecting Peripheral Devices
During initial setup, you can optionally connect peripheral devices (such as a keyboard, mouse, and monitor) to the
NWE-IP to use in establishing the initial IP settings for the NWE-IP. This is especially useful if your facility
network does not support DHCP.
KVM Extenders (customer supplied) are required when the NWE-IP monitor, keyboard/mouse are located
remotely from the rack room. Ensure the cable length does not exceed the recommended standard length for your
peripheral device.
To connect peripheral devices to the NWE-IP
1. Plug a keyboard into the top
USB
port on the NWE-IP rear panel.
2. Plug a mouse into the bottom
USB
port on the NWE-IP rear panel.
3. Plug a monitor into the
VGA
port on the NWE-IP rear panel.
