Maintenance of Ink Cartridges
The ink ingredients have a tendency to separate and settle. Allowing the ink to stand can cause the
settled material to harden, resulting in malfunction or other problems.
So that the ink mixes well, periodically shake each ink cartridge 50 times (about 20 seconds) horizon-
tally with a stroke length of around 5 cm (1.97 in.) from each end of the ink cartridge before reinsert-
ing it.
Cleaning
WARNING
Never use gasoline, alcohol, thinner, or any other flammable material.
Doing so may cause a fire.
Daily cleaning: wipe off any ink and grime on the media path. The pinch rollers, grit rollers, and plat-
en are particularly subject to grime. Use neutral detergent diluted with water, and a damp cloth to
wipe off ink and grime.
MEMO
• This machine is a precision device and is affected by dust and dirt. Clean thoroughly on a daily basis.
• Never oil or lubricate the machine.
Grit rollers
Use a brush to remove any stuck media fibers and waste. Never use a
metal brush.
Pinch rollers
Periodically wipe off grime. Failure to wipe clean may result in dirt on
the media.
Platen
Wipe off ink and grime left on and waste. Never use a metal brush. the
media path.
