Owner’s Manual

Connecting to or Disconnecting from the Recording Devices

You can connect the SSD-128G to the Roland R-1000 for use as recording storage.
For connection and disconnection steps, refer to the owner’s manuals for the R-1000.

NOTE

To avoid the risk of damage to internal components that can be caused by static electricity, please

carefully observe the following whenever you handle this drive.

•  Before you touch the drive, always first grasp a metal object (such as a water pipe), so you are sure

that any static electricity you might have been carrying has been discharged.

•  When handling this drive, grasp it only by the case. Avoid touching any of the electronic

components or connectors.

•  Before you connect any cables, make sure they do not carry a static electricity charge. Such

charges can be transmitted, for example, if the other end of the cable has been in contact with a

carpet (or other object) where there is a static electricity buildup.

NOTE

Before the first recording to the SSD-128G, use the recording device (R-1000) to format this drive.

Without formatting process, this drive cannot carry out proper recording. For steps of formatting the

recording drive, refer to owner’s manuals for the R-1000.

NOTE

When you connect the SSD-128G to your computer, note the following points.

•  The USB cable has 2 plugs on one end. Be sure to connect both plugs to the USB ports on your

computer. If you connect one plug only, it may cause the SSD-128G to malfunction because of

limited power (depending on the model of your computer.

•  If connecting 2 plugs is difficult because of limited USB ports or space, you can connect via USB

hub. In this case, use a self-powered type (a hub that receives power from an external AC adaptor).

Do not use a bus-powered USB hub. Note too that the SSD-128G may not work properly if it

connected via a bus-powered USB hub - again due to the limited power.

•  Do not extend the USB cable. If the SSD-128G is connected to a computer via an extension cable, it

may not work properly.
