is already being used by another tool when the firmware starts, the error message
"Could not open cascading server port. Please change the cascading port number."
appears.
If a connection has already been established between the master and slave but the
port number is also being used by software on other PCs in the LAN, the error mes-
sage "Cascading data handshake failed. Please consider changing the cascading port
number." appears.
The remedy in both cases is to change the port numbers on all instruments in the cas-
cade so that they are standardized or uniform. Any port number from the specified
value range can be selected as the new port number. The problem should be corrected
after all instruments have been switched off and back on.
8.5 Operating Modes
A cascade can behave like a single R&S UPP with a correspondingly large number of
channels if all instruments have identical analyzer settings and measurement functions
in particular.
However, the instruments in the cascade can also be controlled and set individually to
enable multichannel measurements with different analyzer configurations and mea-
surement functions.
8.6 Manual Operation of a Cascade
8.6.1 Operating Method
A master R&S UPP can be operated manually either by a connected mouse and key-
board or via remote desktop. It configures all instruments within the cascade, whereby
the respective settings of the addressed instrument are always displayed in the user
interface of the master.
In the parameter field "GUI Control" in the panel section "Master/Slave" of the config
panel, it is possible to determine the instruments to which the settings made on the
master are transferred.
