SYSTem:MEMory:FREE <free>
The command deletes the contents of the string or data buffer.
Parameters:
<free> STRing | DATA
STRing
deletes the contents of all string buffers.
After deletion, the query
SYSTem:MMEMory:STRing<n3>?
returns the string <empty> .
DATA
deletes the contents of all data buffers.
After deletion, the query
SYSTem:MMEMory:DATA<n3>?
returns <3.38> (NaN = Not a Number).
Usage: Setting only
SYSTem:MEMory:STRing<n3> <string>
Enters a string in the string buffer.Any strings up to a length of 540 bytes can be
cached in up to 1024 memory locations.
Suffix:
<n3>

Parameters:
<string> string
The maximum string length is 540 bytes.
If the contents of the string buffer are deleted with command
SYSTem:MMEMory:FREE STRing
, the query
SYSTem:MMEMory:STRing<n3>?
returns the string <empty>.
Example: SYSTem:MEMory:STRing10 "Store this string in
the buffer!"
Query:
SYSTem:MEMory:STRing10?
Response:
"Store this string in the buffer!"
