Command reference
OT1/OT0
Format:
OT1 Switch on output
Format:
OT0
Switch off output
OF1/OF0
Format:
OF1 Enabling of the offset
Format:
OF0
Disabling of the offset
INV
Format: INV
Function: Inversion of the output signal. The INVERT func-
tion is disabled by sending a command of the waveform
group. In ramp, pulses and arbitary mode the signals are
inverted. If the INVERT function is activated with the sine
wave, square wave or triangel function, the signal is 180
degrees phase shifted with respect to the trigger signal
(TRIG. OUTPUT) .
6.4 Display
Command Description
DFR
Display of the signal frequency
DST
Display of the start frequeny (sweep)
DSP
Display of the stop frequency (sweep)
DSW
Display of the sweep time
DWT
Display of the pulse width
DAM
Display of the signal amplitude
DOF
Display of the offset voltage
These commands are used display the desired parameter.
In remote mode the changed parameters are not displayed
automatically. If you want tofunction generator to return
the current parameters via interface you can use the com-
mands for the parameter query. If you want the instrument
to dispaly the parameters for a visual check, you send the
corresponding command listed above.

OFFSET
In order to change frequency, offset, signal amplitude etc.
the parameter command group is required. The parame-
ter may be sent using various formats: If you want the func-
tion generator to return the current parameters via interface
you can use the commands for the parameter query. If you
want the instrument to dispaly the parameters for a visual
check, you send the corresponding command listed above.
Example:
Set the signal frequency to 1 kHz:
FRQ:1000
FRQ:1000.0
FRQ:1E3
FRQ:1.0000E3
FRQ:10000E-1
6.6 Parameter request
Command Description
Answer
FRQ? Frequency
FRQ:1.2345E+3
STT?
Start frequency (sweep) STT:2.0000E+3
STP?
Stop frequency (sweep) STP:1.0000E+4
SWT?
Sweep time
SWT:3.0000E+2
WDT?
Pulse width
WDT:45.6E-6
AMP?
Output voltage
AMP:10.00E+0
OFS? Offset
OFS:3.00E+0
In order to request the actual parameter settings of the
HM8150 use the commands of group 6. The answer of the
instrument consists of the name of the parameter resp.
command and the parameter itself which is given in the
format floating number plus exponent .
Example:
FRQ:1.2345E+3
Frequency = 1.2345 kHz
OFS: –3.0E+0
Offset = –3.0 V
WDT: 45.6E-6
Pulse width = 45.6 µs
*IDN?
Format: *IDN?
Function: Read the function generator’s identification
string which contains three fields separated by commas.
The first field is the manufacturer’s name, the second field
is the model number, the third field is a revision code.
Example:
HAMEG Instruments,HM8150;f.ff
(with f.ff = firmware version)
VER?
Format:
VER?
Function:
Return the firmware version
Exmaple:
V1.0
STA?
Format: STA?
Function: Rerturn the current instruments settings. Be sure
to dimension a string variable with at least 21 characters).
Example:
OT0OF0SW0SINCTMDFRDOF
Explanation:
OT0
= Output off
OF0
= Offset off
SW0
= Sweep off
SIN
= Sine wave
CTM
= Operating mode continuous
DFR
= Display of the signal frequency
DOF
= Display of the offset voltage
6.7 Arbitrary

ARD? ARD4? Return of all saved values
ARP= ARP4: Input of the arbitrary data
ARD= ARD4= Input of the arbitrary data
ARE
ARE
