3 Introduction
3.1 First time operation
Before using the instrument for the first time, please check
the following:
❙The connection to the mains is either by plugging into a
socket with safety ground terminal or via an isolation
transformer of protection class II.
❙No visible damage to the instrument.
❙No visible damage to the line cord.
❙No loose parts floating around in the instrument.
3.2 Switch-on
When the HM8150 is turned on, it automatically per-
forms a selftest routine and displays the baud rate (e.g.
9600 Baud), the device type and the firmware version (e.g.
HM8150 1.04). After switch-on the HM8150 has the same
configuration as switched off. All parameter settings are
saved in a non-volatile memory and are read back after
switch-on. The output, the sweep, the offset and the invert
function are deactivated by default.
