Troubleshoot the Switch
Recover the Switch Firmware
Before you can recover switch firmware, make sure of the following:
• You have physical access to the switch.
• At least one switch port is enabled and is not connected to a device.
You can recover the switch firmware if needed, such as in these scenarios:
• The image is corrupted, as indicated by continuous attempts by the
switch to restart.
• You deleted the image due to a failed firmware update.
• You forget the switch password.
When you recover switch firmware, all configuration settings are deleted, and
the switch returns to its factory default settings.
Reset the Switch to
Factory Defaults
This procedure resets the switch to its original factory settings. Any
configuration changes that you have made are lost.
Reset a Stratix 5400, Stratix 5410, Stratix 5700, or
ArmorStratix 5700 Switch
1. Make sure that the switch is fully powered up.
2. Press and hold the Express Setup button for 10 seconds until the EIP
Mod status indicator turns red, and then immediately release the Express
Setup button.
IMPORTANT
Do not perform this procedure while the switch is
powering up.
IMPORTANT
If you hold the Express Setup button too long (approximately 20
seconds), the EIP Net and EIP Mod both turn red and the switch
begins the power-on sequence. If this scenario occurs, you must
power off and restart the switch to return to the factory default
settings.
