Safety Precautions

•  The battery pack is designed only for use with the Roberts R1 and R100 

products. It should not be used as a battery power source for other devices.

•  There are no user serviceable parts inside this product.

•  Do not attempt to open or disassemble any part of the product.

•  Do not puncture, crush, modify, or cause any unnecessary shock to the 

battery.  The battery may present a risk of fire, explosion or chemical burn if 

mistreated.

•  Do not dispose of the battery in a fire or incinerator.

•  Do not leave, charge or expose the battery to a heat source such as in a car 

under direct sunlight.

•  Do not expose the battery to moisture.

•  Do not use or charge the battery if it appears to be abnormally hot, swollen, 

leaking or damaged in any way. 

•  Do not leave a charging battery unattended.

•  The battery pack must only be used with the mains adaptor supplied with 

your R1 or R100 radio, or a genuine replacement provided by Roberts 

Radio. Do not use any alternative power source as a charger.

•  Do not use the battery pack to power any product other than the Roberts R1 

or R100. 

•  Check the room temperature range is between 0-40°C (32-104°F) before 

charging the product/battery.

•  Do not allow the product to be exposed to water, steam or sand.

•  The product shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects 

filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the product.

•  Operate the product such that there is a minimum distance (10cm 

recommended) to adjacent objects in order to ensure good ventilation. The 

ventilation of the product should not be restricted by covering it with items 

such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains etc.

•  No naked flame sources such as lighted candles should be placed on the 

product.

•  Avoid using or storing the product at extremes of temperature. Avoid leaving 

the unit in cars, on window sills, in direct sunlight etc.

•  Be sure to read additional safety instructions in the user guide for the 

R1 or R100.

Battery pack installation

•  Tools required – Philips-style cross-head screw driver, number 1.

1.  Ensure that the 

Switch

 on the battery pack is in the OFF position.

2.  Unplug your R1 or R100 at the mains and disconnect it from the mains 

adaptor.

3.  Remove any audio cables, Ethernet cable or USB memory device.

4.  If using the R100, carefully shorten the telescopic aerial and push it back 

into the cabinet.

Note: 

The battery pack connecter is located underneath the R1 or R100. 

Remove the small cross head screw illustrated below and then remove 

the connector cover.

Red indicator - Indicates the battery pack is charging
Green indicator - Indicates the battery pack is fully charged
Orange indicator - Indicates that the battery pack has less than  

20% to 30% charge remaining.

Accessory for the R1 and R100

The battery pack allows you to use your product away from the mains typically 

for between 8 and 12 hours. The battery life available between charges will vary 

according to the product volume and operating mode. The battery pack may be 

recharged from empty in approximately 6 to 7 hours.

6.  Take the small cross head screw and the connector cover and keep in a 

safe place for future use.
