9.3.3

Maintaining the spark plug

To ensure proper engine operation, the spark plug must be
properly gapped and free of deposits.

NOTICE

Risk of engine damage!
The engine may be damaged if a spark plug with inadequate
heat range is used.

Use a spark plug with adequate heat range!

Recommended spark plug: CMR6A (NGK)

Spare part spark plug:
EDP-No. 900 044 0408

The recommended spark plug has the correct heat rating for
normal engine operating temperatures.

Remove the spark plug connector.

Clean the surrounding area of the spark plug.

Unscrew the spark plug with a suitable spark plug wrench.

Visually inspect the spark plug. Discard the spark plug if
there is apparent wear, or if the insulator is cracked or
chipped.

Measure the spark plug gap with a feeler gauge.

Correct as necessary by bending the side electrode.
