Checking the machine
6.8.1 Abrasive and grinding spindle
WARNING
Risk of injury!
Abrasives whose use-by date has expired or
abrasives with dents or cracks can burst dur-ing
operation! Fragments can fly everywhere and
cause serious injuries.

Do not use abrasives whose use-by dates
have expired.
►
Use only abrasives which are free from
dents or cracks.
►
Do not use abrasives if they run out-of-true.
CAUTION
Risk of injury!
If unbalanced abrasives are used, the values
for hand-arm vibration will be exceeded.
►
Do not use abrasives with an unbalance in
excess of 2 m/s

1. Check the abrasive pad for tightness.
2. Perform the following checks:
Visual inspection
•
Check the abrasive pads for cracks or other damage (frac-
tures and adequate height).
•
Check safety devices for correct seating and integrity.
•
Check the drive V-belt of the abrasive wheel for
integrity and adequate tensioning.
Functional checks
•
Check the handwheel resistance setting (should be moder-
ately hard to turn by hand).
•
Check the integrity and free movement of the tilt
adjust-ment.
