• If the second attempt fails, enter the NVRAM data manually using the SMC print you created
before uploading the NVRAM data. ( above procedure)
1. Turn off the main power of the copier.
2. Remove the interface cover 2 ( x 1).
3. Insert the SD card with the NVRAM data into the service slot 2.
4. Turn on the main power of the copier.
5. Execute SP 5825-1 (NVRAM Data Download) and press the "Execute" key.
6. Turn off the main power of the copier, and then remove the SD card from the slot 2.
7. Reassemble the machine.
• In order for the NVRAM data to download successfully, the serial number of the file on the SD
card must match the serial number of the machine. If the serial numbers do not match, the
download will fail.
This procedure downloads (saves) the following data to the NVRAM:
• Total Count
• C/O, P/O Count
Firmware Update Procedure
This section illustrates how to update the firmware.
To update the firmware, you must have the new version of the firmware downloaded onto an SD
(Secure Digital) Card. The SD Card is inserted into the uppermost slot on the right side of the controller
box, viewed from the back of the machine.
Before You Begin…
An SD card is a precision device, so always observe the following precautions when handling SD cards:
• Always switch the machine off before inserting an SD card. Never insert the SD card into the slot
with the power on.
• When the power is switched on, never remove the SD card from the service slot.
• Never switch the machine off while the firmware is downloading from the SD card.
• Store SD cards in a safe location where they are not exposed high temperature, high humidity, or
exposure to direct sunlight.
• Always handle SD cards with care to avoid bending or scratching them. Never drop an SD card or
expose it to other shock or vibration.
