health and the safety of workers that could be at
risk from an explosive atmosphere.

This unit must not be operated above
the values specified in the data sheet
with regard to the pumped liquid, flow
rate,  speed,  density,  discharge  head
and  working  temperature  as  well  as
motor power.

Comply  with  the  directions  contained  in  the
operating

instructions

or

contract

documentation;  if  necessary  consult  the
manufacturer.

All  important  characteristics  are  documented  in
the data sheet included in the scope of delivery.

In  case  of  operating  conditions  other  than  those
described  in  the  data  sheet,  check  the  following
again:

  Pump design

Accessories’ design

  Resistance of the materials.

2.2  Safety instructions for

operating company/operator

The following must be observed:

The  safety instructions contained in these op-

erating instructions

The  existing  regulations  for  the  prevention  of

accidents

This  includes  internal  working,  operating  and

safety regulations of the operating company.

Hot  or  cold  machine  parts  on  site  must  be

safeguarded against contact.

Do not remove any protective devices when the

machine is in operation.

Hazards  due  to  electrical  energy  must  be  ex-

cluded.

Leakages of hazardous media (e.g. explosive,

toxic,  hot)  must  be  discharged  in  a  way  that
ensures  no  hazards  to  persons  or  the
environment.  Legal  regulations  must  be
observed.

Attention  when  using  the  units  in
potentially explosive atmospheres!
Prevent inadmissible modes of operation.

2.3  Safety instructions for

maintenance

Only  perform  work  on  the  unit  when  it  is
stationary.
It is essential to observe the shutdown of the unit
described  in  the  operating  instructions.  See

section 6.3

Pumps that convey media harmful to health must
be decontaminated.

All  safety  and  protective  facilities  are  to  be
reinstalled  and  made  functional  immediately  on
completion of work.

When  the  safety  instructions  are  observed
(see  also

sections  5.1 and  7.5.2

),  the magnetic

couplings  pose  no  hazard  and  do  not  affect  the
environment.

During  disassembly  and  assembly
and  during  transport  and  storage  of
magnetic  couplings  as  individual
parts,  it  is  essential  to  observe  the
safety instructions in

section 7.5.2

Before  resuming  operation,  observe  the  points
listed in

section 6.1

2.4  Unauthorized modification and

production of spare parts

Modification or alterations to the machine are only
permitted after consultation with the manufacturer.

Original spare parts and accessories approved by
the manufacturer serve to ensure safety.

The  consequences  of  using  other  parts  may

negate the manufacturer’s liability as a result.

2.5  Prohibited operating modes

The operational reliability of the machine supplied
is only guaranteed if it is used as intended in ac-
cordance  with

section 2.1

  of  the  operating  in-

structions.

Do  not  exceed  the  limits  specified  in  the  data
sheet under any circumstances.

2.6  Special conditions for

explosion protection

When  using  the  units  in  potentially  explosive
atmospheres,  the  measures  and  instructions  in

sections  2.6.1  to  2.6.9

  must  be  observed  to

ensure explosion protection.

2.6.1  Filling the unit

During pump operation, the interior of
the pump that comes into contact with
the liquid must be filled with pumped
liquid at all times.

This  ensures  that  there  is  no  explosive  atmos-
phere and the risk of running dry is prevented.

If the operator cannot ensure this, we
recommend

that

appropriate

monitoring measures be provided.

All  auxiliary,  heating  and  cooling
systems must also be carefully filled.
