Product description
The housing dimensions, nominal outputs and
technical requirements of the MNKA bearing
pedestal assembly 4 comply with ASME B73.3M,
ISO 15783 / DIN ISO 5199.
The sectional drawing shows the design of the
pump. See
section 10.1
.
All components that come into contact with the
pumped medium are either encased in plastic or
made of other resistant materials, e.g. silicon car-
bide.
Housing
100
is made of metallic plating and a
plastic liner.
Bearing bushes
545
and axial bearing washers
314
are secured against torsion in the plain bear-
ing pedestal.
Bearing sleeve
529/1
is secured against rotation
in the impeller or
529/2
in the pump rotor.
Can
159
is made of high-strength CFRP (carbon
fiber composite). This is protected against the
pumped medium by can insert
158
made of re-
sistant plastic.
Plain bearing pedestal
339
separates the hydrau-
lic part of the pump from the can area. Both
spaces are connected by flushing holes in the
plain bearing pedestal, creating an internal flush-
ing circuit due to the pressure differences. This
serves to flush or cool the plain bearing.
Oil bath lubrication only:
Bearing pedestal
330
contains radial ball bearings
321/1 and 321/2,
which are lubricated by an oil
bath. The oil bath is sealed by shaft seals
421/1
and 421/2
and
412/1
O-ring.
Special designs:
♦
A vacuum-tight can unit is created by bonding
the can to the can insert.
The can chamber is also vented and drained via
the holes in the plain bearing pedestal.
Additional information can be found in the
brochure.

Setup/installation
5.1 Safety regulations
Devices that are operated in poten-
tially explosive areas must comply
with the explosion protection regula-
tions.
People with pacemakers are at risk
from the strong magnetic field of the
magnetic coupling. Remaining at a
distance of less than 500 mm from the
pump can be potentially fatal for them.
5.2 Pump/unit setup
The structural layout must be prepared according
to the dimensions of the installation plan.
Installation method: On poured base plate and
solid foundation
♦
Align the base plate on the ground foundation.
♦
Insert the foundation bolts and under fill the
base plate.
♦
Only tighten the foundation screws evenly and
firmly after the mortar has set.
If additional installations are mounted,
the stability of the entire unit must be
checked when it is installed without a
foundation.
5.3 Aligning the pump
—
cou-
pling
—
motor
The following is for general infor-
mation purposes. Special instructions
for the coupling and motor manufac-
turer must be observed.
After fixing the base plate to the foundation and
connecting the piping, the alignment of the
coupling must be carefully checked and, if
necessary, the unit must be readjusted on the mo-
tor.
♦
A coupling check and possible re-alignment is
required even if the pump and motor are sup-
plied and aligned on a common base plate.
♦
Before starting the alignment, loosen support
bracket
183
and then tighten it stress-free.
♦
The pump must be aligned horizontally (on the
shaft / discharge nozzle) in all directions with
the aid of a spirit level (permissible position de-
viation max. 0.2 mm/m).
♦
A distance depending on the coupling used
must be maintained between the pump shaft
and the motor shaft. See installation plan.
♦
Place supports in the immediate vicinity of the
foundation / base plate screw connection.
Ensure that the unit cannot be started
up during work if a coupling guard is not
attached.
