PROBLEM

Vacuum won’t turn on

Vacuum won’t pick up or  

low suction

Dust escaping from vacuum

POSSIBLE REASON

•  Power cord not firmly  

plugged in. 

•  Blown fuse or tripped  

breaker.

• Needs service.

• “Carpet” button not on.

• Vacuum bag is full.

• Clogged filter(s).

• Hose clogged.

• Worn brushes.

• Broken belt.

•  Tool Activation Dial  

turned “On”.

•  Dust compartment cover not 

attached properly.

•  Filters not installed correctly.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION

• Plug unit in firmly.

•  Check house fuse or breaker. 

Replace fuse/ reset breaker.

•  Take to an Authorized  

Riccar Vacuum Retailer.

•  Press “Carpet” button on –  

it will illuminate when it’s on.

• Replace bag.

• Replace filter(s).

•  Remove obstacle.

• Replace brush strips.

•  Take to an Authorized  

Riccar Vacuum Retailer.

•  Turn Tool Activation Dial to “Off” 

position for carpet and bare 

floor cleaning.

•  Attach the dust compartment 

cover and secure latch.

•  Review filter installation  

(pages 15-17).
