Master or Slave control
If more than one Radar 4600 displays are installed, only one can be master
station, from which the radar transceiver can be operated. A slave station
shows all transceiver settings inverse coloured and diffused.
To get control, click menu button [RADAR] at screen right downside. The
right shown menu opens. Click <MSTR> to activate as master.
Automatically other displays are set as slaves. Or select MSTR or SLAVE in
left bottom menu.
If it is a system with more than one radar antenna, first select the needed
one in the left bottom menu of radar menu.
SLAVE control
In Slave control, the functions which are disabled are shown diffused and
blurred. All transceiver adjusting functions are disabled. But the Enhance
function does not influence the transceiver. So this function can be changed. It
only affects the regarding Display.
3.3
Basic Radar operation
For basic radar operation only functions of down left screen corner and the range buttons on top line are
needed.
On/Off buttons and settings are coloured blue when activated and grey when deactivated. Buttons which
have different functions stay grey coloured, but are signed with the actual settings.
As example: [TX] is shown, when in Transmit mode and [STBY] is shown, when in Standby mode, or [OFF],
when radar operation is switched off.
Green coloured words are only for information. Those cells have no click functions. In this example an X-
Band transceiver is connected and the display is selected as Master.
3.3.1
Switch on System
Monitor, host computer and Radar Sensor normally have separate power switches.
WARNING!
Before switching the Radar Sensor ON, always check that the antenna is clear of obstacles and persons and
no maintenance is actually carried out at transceiver and antenna!
Note:
In many harbours radar operation is not allowed during loading/unloading time.
After switching on the host computer and monitor, click the [Off) button. A ‘Standby’ image is shown on
screen. If the radar transceiver is started at same time, the [Off] button changes to a timer indication, which
counts the waiting time, to switch over to transmit. Radar transmitter needs a warm up time from about 1 to
4 minutes, depending on the radar sensor magnetron type and frequency. When the waiting time has
ended, the button shows [STBY].
Then click the [STBY] button. A popup field shows the options –Click [TX] and the Popup disappears. The
former [STBY] button changes to [TX). The radar image starts with operation.
