4.6 Remote Operation
The 7k series software architecture is built on a client/server concept. The 7k Center
running on the transceiver controls the sonar, performs data processing, and exports
data to external clients connected via TCP IP or UDP Ethernet connections. It is normal
to run client applications such as the GUI (Graphical User Interface) on the transceiver
platform, but clients may also be run remotely.
If the 7k GUI (SeaBat7K.exe) is started on a remote machine which does not have a
7k Center running, the user is prompted to enter an IP address for the machine running
the center. This way the GUI can be run remotely.
Depending on Ethernet bandwidth and traffic load, remote operation may result in
reduced performance or, in some severe cases, data loss.
The following files, all from the RESON directory on the transceiver, must be copied to a
directory on the remote PC (RESON recommends placing these files in the "Program
Files" directory).
SeaBat7k.exe
MathUtils.dll TrueTimeSDK.dll
XGRAPH10.dll
RSBDirTree.dll
NOTE
A shortcut to SeaBat7k.exe can be placed on the desktop for easy program start.
4.7 Folder Management
4.7.1 Sharing a Folder on a Network
This section describes how to create a shared folder on the transceiver. Shared folders
allow users to access and move data off the transceiver to another network-connected
PC.
NOTE
A network switch is recommended for ease of file sharing and high-speed data transfer
reliability.
