7.5 • Positioning of air ducts
• Ensure an air-tight air duct network. The Renson Easyflex has the highest air tightness class ‘D’.
• Avoid the use of sharp bends (< 90°) in both fixed ducts and in flexible lines wherever
possible. Do not locate sharp bends in the lines just before the ventilator unit.
• In order to prevent the formation of condensation in the ducts, insulated lines should be used if
these lines are located outside the insulated volume of the apartment.
• Use fixed ducts wherever possible. The fixed ducts have a lower air resistance and are
intended to bridge distances.
• The purpose of the flexible aluminium line is to make a bend more gradual and to soften
vibrations. The flexible line is used for the following purposes:
Renson flexible
line
Properties
Application
Aludec
– Connecting ventilator unit and extraction grilles to the
fixed ducts (approx. 0.5m length)
– Connecting ventilator unit and roof gland/ facade
gland
Isodec
Insulated
Same application as Aludec, for non-insulated zones
Acoudec
– Acoustic damping
– Insulated
Same application as Aludec, for use where noise
damping is important
• Preferably use round ducts for risers.
7.5.1 • Air ducts for extraction
The following factors are important for the correct determination of the required RENSON
®
Easyflex air ducts (for extraction):
– Intended extraction air flow
– Distance between ventilator unit and extraction point
– Acoustic comfort for the user
– Pressure loss over the air ducts
• In order to be able to guarantee
acoustic comfort
, RENSON
®
recommends a maximum air
velocity of
3.0 to 3.5 m/s
.
The table below shows the required number of duct sections, at which the air velocity of
3.5 m/s is not exceeded:

The technical data sheet of the Easyflex gives and overview of the air velocity at which the
demanded air flow is achieved with the different types of air duct.
