30.9

Standard Serial I/O Mode

In standard serial I/O mode, a serial programmer supporting the M16C/64C Group can be used to rewrite
program ROM 1, program ROM 2, and data flash while the MCU is mounted on a board.
Standard serial I/O mode has following modes:

• Standard serial I/O mode 1: The MCU is connected to the serial programmer by using clock 

synchronous serial I/O

• Standard serial I/O mode 2: The MCU is connected to the serial programmer by using 2-wire clock 

asynchronous serial I/O

For more information about the serial programmer, contact the serial programmer manufacturer. Refer to
the user’s manual included with your serial programmer for instructions.
