5.
Press the “Browse device” button and select the Scancheck 3 device.
Press the “Start update” button.
6.
Please wait for the ScanCheck 3 device to restart (approx. 6 minutes). The device can
restart in the middle of the update procedure and resume the update. Once the update is
complete, a restart also takes place and the device then enters normal operating mode
again.
7.
Adjust and recalibrate the ScanCheck 3 device for 6 mil and 20 mil.
3.8 Network installation
In company networks that are heavily administered or are subject to a high level of security
precautions, previously unknown network devices must undergo an authorisation procedure. This
authorisation procedure can be long and complex. In such cases, the use of a computer with two
gigabit network interfaces is recommended. Then connection diagram 2 for the REA ScanCheck 3n
applies, as described below. With the second network interface, such a computer is connected to
the company network.
The following different network configurations exist.
3.8.1
Connection via “DHCP” server in the network
If there is a DHCP server in the network, the PC is connected with the installed REA TransWin32
software and the REA ScanCheck 3n through this network.
In the factory settings of the REA ScanCheck 3n, both the REA ScanCheck 3n and the PC get their
network settings automatically from a DHCP server in the network.
The power supply unit of the REA ScanCheck 3n (PoE power supply unit) is connected via the
“
Data IN
” socket to a network socket in the room by means of the supplied network cable.
Then the RJ
45 interface socket on the REA ScanCheck 3n is connected to the “
Data & Power
OUT
” socket on the power supply unit with the second supplied network cable.
In this constellation, the PC is already connected to the same network via a separate cable.
Attention: In this case, only the supplied cables or so-called patch cables but not network cables
with crossed lines (also referred to as crossover cables) are allowed to be used.
The connection diagram corresponds to the figure below “Direct connection with patch cable or
Ethernet cable”.
In this constellation, the PC must already be otherwise connected to the network; or else it must be
connected to another (3rd) network cable, also with a network socket.
If only one network socket exists at the workplace, it is best to split up the devices by means of an
Ethernet switch. The connection diagram corresponds to the figure below “Connection with
Ethernet switch”. The grey network cable on the Ethernet switch shown there creates, in this
configuration, the connection to the company network.
