Satspeed 2 Interface
Description
The Satspeed 2 Interface converts GPS data to radar compatible speed pulse .
The Satspeed 2 interface will accept a standard NMEA GGA and VTG message from a GPS receiver and will
convert this message to a pulse output proportional to forward speed. The pulse output is compatible with the
output of most industry standard radar speed sensors. The RS232 output from a GPS receiver can be shared
between the Satspeed 2 interface and any other equipment using the GPS ( e.g. a guidance system)
Advantages
True ‘speed over ground’ calculated from up to 12 GPS satellites
Sensor and cabling installed away from moving parts and out of vulnerable areas.
Not influenced by wheel slip, wheel size, tyre pressures or vehicle load.
Not influenced by pitch or yaw of vehicle
Not influenced by moving crops
Sensor positioning / alignment not critical
Operates with any GPS receiver that outputs NMEA messages via serial RS232 port.
Does not need differential correction but accuracy is directly related to GPS receiver quality.
