Your scanner has been designed with embedded software that
eliminates the need to install drivers. Just a simple setup is required
within your payment application.
1. Use either USB or Ethernet cable provided to connect to a
computer or a local network (Ethernet only)
• When connected via Ethernet:
− You can connect scanner directly to a computer or
network. Refer to User Guide section
“Connecting the
EC9600i network scanner”
for more details.
− To identify the scanner on your network (if required) enter
the Network Device Name as:
rd<scannerserialnumber>
For example,
rd2501069608020
There is a label on your scanner that includes the following details:
• Scanner model number
• MAC address
• Scanner serial number
• Speed of your scanner
• If scanner is licensed for OCR (optical character recognition)
You can locate the label on the bottom or back of your scanner,
depending on the model.

The scanner’s status is shown through a single multi-state LED light.
The tables below describe typicals status signals/meaning.
Signals
Meaning
Upon power up:
Solid red followed by varying
green/red flashing cycles
The scanner is initializing itself.
Duration is less than one minute after
power up.
Depending on scanner
connection:
Green solid or green flashing
The scanner is ready and idle.
When prompted to scan:
Green flashing
The scanner is waiting for the user to
insert a document into the feeder.
During scanning:
Green and red flashing cycle
The scanner is processing the
documents. Wait for the scanner to
finish.
When scanning:
Red flashing
Error during document processing.
Check your application for instructions,
or contact your application provider.
2. Set up the scanner with your application
• May require some or all of the following, depending on your
application:
− Install a security certificate on your computer
(you may
need to have administrator rights to do this)
− Make changes to your browser’s security settings
− Configure or select your scanner model
− Enter your scanner’s serial number into the application
(as pictured in
“Identifying your scanner”
)

(e.g. fans, power supplies)
• Insert the round end of the power cord into power port on back
of scanner with flat side facing up, connect to power adapter and
into electrical outlet
