-Connect service monitor to receiver

Õs antenna port.

-On the receiver

s frequency, generate a 1KHz tone

at full deviation (FM; 3KHz normal, 2.4KHz NPSPAC.
AM; 100% Modulation).

-Apply enough signal strength to fully quiet the receiver
(typically 12dB)

-Set the receiver

Õs ŅLine outÓ pot to the

appropriate system level (normally -
10dBm) for average voice (1KHz tone).

-Verify audio range at
the terminal block is -30
to +10dBm (typically set
for -10dBm) for average
voice.

-Connect a transmission test set to the
receiver

Õs audio pair.

-Squelch the receiver and set the receiver

Pilot tone pot to produce the same level as
average voice.

-Set the SVM receive audio level pot
(R45), so that the average voice (1KHz
tone) just lights the NORM LED.

-Verify this adjustment, by connecting a
transmission test set to test point 3 (TP3)
& ground.

-The SVM-1 should be set to 0dBm.

-The SVM-2 should be set to 5dBm.

-Connect a transmission test set to TP1 &
ground. Adjust the transmit level pot (R62)
to the appropriate system level (typically -
10dBm) for average voice.

-Set/verify the transmitters frequency,
deviation/modulation and output power.

-Disconnect Service monitor.

-When using EIA keying tones to key a
transmitter, the function tone and the
average voice levels are at the same level.
Both are set by R62.
