Appendix A

Software Updates via 

the USB Port

Preparation

Make sure the following steps are performed prior to updating the Phoenix 300 via the USB port on the 
receiver.

1.

Check file requirements and download the appropriate update from the Raven web site.

2.

Unzip or extract the contents of the file directly to the root directory (e.g. “F:\” where F is the drive letter 
assigned to the flash drive).

Software Update Procedure

The following procedure contains detailed instructions for updating software on the Phoenix 300 with USB 
using a home or office PC.

Note:

Software updates for the Phoenix 300 receiver are available on the Raven Applied Technology 
Division web site:

www.ravenhelp.com

Be sure to update the Raven firmware before beginning the NovAtel

®

 firmware update.

Front Panel Update

Important:

The front panel software update may take a few minutes to complete. Do not remove power from the 
receiver or disconnect the USB flash drive during the update process.

1.

Shutdown the Phoenix 300 receiver.

2.

Insert the USB flash drive with the update file into the USB port on the back of the receiver.

3.

Turn the receiver power on.

4.

Press and hold any arrow key when prompted to begin the update.

Note:

The prompt will automatically time out after 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, the Phoenix 300 will start 
up normally. To restart the update, shutdown the receiver and restart the receiver.
