Page 5 of 48 (06/30/98)
General Information
The MRC7601 module is an interface that enables a user to operate a video cassette
recorder (VCR), a Laser Disk Video Player, or a Philips CDI player from a remote
location via a Telecenter
®
V, a Telecenter
®
System 21, or a Telecenter
®
IV Plus.
With this system, all of an institution’s video sources can be operated and kept at
one secure location. An authorized user simply accesses the video source, selects
the appropriate television channel, and then controls the player. The controller may
be a simple telephone, a hand-held remote control (MRH7700), or a bar code
scanner (RANBARC).
This unit is a direct functional replacement for the MR100. The connector wiring is
identical to that of the MR100. It is possible to have MR100 units and MRC7601
units operating side by side in the same system (if they are all E&M interfaced).
The unit is designed to work with most commonly available VCRs. It will support
several versions of Pioneer Laser Disk Video Players, including the LD-V2200 and
LD-V4400. It will control all Phillips CDI players.
The MRC7601 may connect to the Telecenter
®
using either E&M (like the MR100)
or Tip/Ring connections. The Tip/Ring interface accepts either 12 or 48 volt
telephone line voltage. The Tip/Ring interface connects to the SLC ports on the
Telecenter
®
System 21 (either SLC3 or SLC4). The Tip/Ring interface is not
available for use with the Telecenter
®
IV Plus.
The memory on the MRC7601 is non-volatile. It has a combination of battery
backed RAM and EEPROM storage. The batteries should be replaced every 5
years.
