NOTE:
The device provides the best service when left powered
ON
. This allows the detector, desorber,
and membrane to remain hot, thus preventing contamination and condensation of water vapor into
the device.
Charging the Batteries
Before a lithium ion main battery can provide the maximum run-time for the device, it must be fully charged. It can
be charged using either the device or the battery charger. To charge the battery using the device, install the
battery in the main battery compartment and connect the external power supply to the device and to the main AC
supply. The main battery charges automatically whether the device is being operated while powered on or off.
see "Battery Recharge Time" on the facing page)
NOTE:
For information about the battery or charger, see the Inspired Energy CH5000A instruction sheet
included with the charger or visit
Using the Battery Charger
In order to maintain maximum performance of the main batteries, Rapiscan Systems recommends periodically
using the battery charger to check battery status and perform recalibration as needed.
NOTE:
Use only the battery charger specified by Rapiscan Systems.
Place the battery charger on a flat, level surface away from sources of heat and moisture. Plug the DC connector
from the power supply into the back of the charger and connect the power supply to the main AC supply using the
cable provided. Install the battery in the charger's battery bay such that the connector on the battery properly
mates with the connector on the charger.
When the battery is installed in the charger, LEDs in the charger's status window indicates the status of the
battery.
see "Battery Recharge Time" on the facing page)
Charging automatically begins and ends, provided the
battery is not in an error state. If a red flashing LED displays then the battery requires recalibration. Press and
release the calibration button on the charger to initiate the automatic recalibration routine. If a red solid LED
displays, the battery is defective and should be replaced.
