SECTION 16: GAS PIPING
16.1 Gas Manifolds
All gas piping to the air handler m u st comply w ith:
United States: Refer to NFPA 54/ANSI Z223.1 - latest
re
v ision, National F u el Gas Code.
Canada: Refer to CSA B149.1 - latest re v ision,
Nat u ral Gas and Propane Installation Code.
The air handlers are a v ailable w ith three gas manifold
options.
• American National Standards Instit u te (ANSI)
compliant manifold: ( See Page 75, Figure 32 for
2005. See Page 75, Figure 33 for 2010 - 2030.
• Factory M u t u al (FM)-compliant manifold:
( See Page 75, Figure 32 for 2005. See Page 76,
Figure 34 for 2010 - 2030.
• XL compliant manifold: ( See Page 75, Figure 32
for 2005. See Page 76, Figure 35 for 2010 - 2030.
16.2 Gas Pipin g and Pressures
The air handler is eq u ipped w ith a gas manifold
s u itable for connection to s u pply press u re of u p to:
• 14 in w c maxim u m (34.9 mbar) (2005 - 2030 w ith
ANSI-compliant manifold.)
• 5 p.s.i. maxim u m (2005 - 2030 w ith FM or XL
compliant manifold).
When gas s u pply exceeds the abo v e-listed maxim u m
gas press u res, an additional high press u re gas
reg u lator w ill be req u ired to ass u re that the correct
gas press u re is s u pplied to the reg u lator. Press u re
sho u ld be meas u red bet w een the high press u re gas
reg u lator and safety sh u t off v al v e. Minim u m gas
press u re as indicated on data plate m u st be
meas u red w ith the b u rner operating in high fire.

16.3 Gas Manifold Ventin g
Vent v al v es fitted on XL compliant manifolds m u st be
piped to the atmosphere o u tside the str u ct u re and in
accordance w ith applicable codes. This is the
responsibility of the installer.
16.3.1 Main Gas Re g ulator Ventin g
The main reg u lator u sed on 1¼" and larger manifolds
m u st be piped to the atmosphere o u tside the
str u ct u re. This is the responsibility of the installer.
16.3.2 Vent Line Installation
The follo w ing may be u sed as a g u ideline for
installation, b u t all applicable codes and reg u lations
m u st be follo w ed.
• Nat u ral gas and LPG are toxic and flammable
s u bstances. They m u st be released w here they
w ill not ca u se personal inj u ry or property damage.
The end of the v ent line m u st be located w here it
is safe to release gas.
• Pipe the v ent line o u tside the str u ct u re.
• Use as short a v ertical r u n of pipe as possible.
• Do not r u n pipe from a high point to a lo w er point
to a v oid obstacles.
• Use a minim u m n u mber of bends.
• Do not do w nsize the pipe from the origination
point (m u st be same size or larger).
• Make s u re v ent line is free from obstr u ctions.
• Do not gro u p lines together into a common
header.
• The o u tside termination m u st ha v e a
w eatherproof cap or be directed do w n w ard for
protection from the elements and m u st be
screened to pre v ent the entry of any objects.
WARNING
Explosion Hazard
Leak test all components of gas piping
before operation.
Gas can leak if piping is not installed
properly.
Do not high pressure test gas piping with air
handler connected.
Failure to follow these instructions can result
in death, injury or property damage.
