SECTION 11: OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
This heater is eq u ipped w ith a direct spark ignition
system.
11.1 Se q uence of Operation
1. T u rn the thermostat u p. When the thermostat
calls for heat, the b lo w er motor w ill energize.
2. When the motor approaches nominal r u nning
RPM, the press u re s w itch closes and acti v ates
the ignition mod u le.
3. After a 45 second prep u rge, the ignition mod u le
then opens the gas v al v e and energizes the
spark igniter.
4. When the flame is esta b lished, the sparking
seq u ence ceases.
5. If the flame is not esta b lished d u ring the ignition
seq u ence, the ignition mod u le closes the gas
v al v e and p u rge b egins. Mod u le w ill try 2
additional times for ignition ( w ith p u rges in
b et w een trials). If ignition is not esta b lished, the
mod u le w ill locko u t.
6. If the flame exting u ishes d u ring operation, the
ignition mod u le w ill attempt the m u ltiple trial
seq u ence descri b ed in step 5. If ignition is not
re-esta b lished, the mod u le w ill locko u t for one
ho u r or u ntil reset.
7. After locko u t, the control can b e reset b y t u rning
do w n thermostat for fi v e seconds, and then
raising it again to desired temperat u re, or b y
disconnecting po w er and then reconnecting.
8. When thermostat is satisfied, all po w er to the
u nit is sh u t off.
11.2 To Shut Off Heater
Set thermostat to lo w est setting.
T u rn OFF electric po w er to heater.
T u rn OFF man u al gas v al v e in the heater s u pply line.
11.3 To Start Heater
T u rn gas v al v e and electric po w er OFF and w ait fi v e
min u tes for u n bu rned gases to v ent from heater.
T u rn ON main gas v al v e.
T u rn ON electric po w er.
Set thermostat to desired temperat u re.
B u rner sho u ld light a u tomatically.
11.4 Pre-Season Maintenance and Annual
Inspection
To ens u re yo u r safety and years of tro ub le-free
operation of the heating system, ser v ice and ann u al
inspections m u st b e done b y a contractor q u alified in
the installation and ser v ice of gas-fired heating
eq u ipment.
T u rn off gas and electric s u pplies b efore performing
ser v ice or maintenance. Allo w heater to cool b efore
ser v icing.
Before e v ery heating season, a contractor q u alified in
the installation and ser v ice of gas-fired heating
eq u ipment m u st perform a thoro u gh safety
inspection of the heater.
Cut/Pinch Hazard
Wear protective gear
during installation,
operation and service.
Edges are sharp.
WARNING
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, electric shock, injury or property damage.
Burn Hazard
Allow heater to cool
before service.
Tubing may still be hot
after operation.

Turn off gas supply to
heater before service.
