F-SCH
Forward
Supplemen-
tal Channel
Traffic Channel contains user
data only, operates in conjunc-
tion with a Forward Fundamental
Channel or a Forward Dedicated
Control Channel to provide
higher data rate services.
F-SCH can only be used with
RC3 to RC12. The channel uses
variable length Walsh Codes to
provide a constant spreading
rate. It provides data rates from
1200 bit/s up to 1036800 bit/s.

F-FCH
Forward
Fundamen-
tal Channel
The F-FCH contains control data
and user data.
It is a sub channel of the traffic
channel. The traffic channel is
used for transmitting the radio
link information, i.e. for communi-
cation addressee.

Paging
Channel
The primary F-PCH contains
control information specific for an
MS which is not yet assigned to
a traffic channel by the network.

F-PICH Forward
Pilot Chan-
nel
The F-PICH is transmitted con-
tinuously on the forward signal.
The F-PICH contains only
0
bits
and the PN sequence is short.
Thus the mobile station can syn-
chronize to these sequences to
acquire the timing of the forward
channel, phase references for
coherent detection and power
references for power schemes.

BPSK 0
F-Sync
Forward
Sync Chan-
nel
The F-Sync transmits the syn-
chronization message for the
mobile station. The message
contains the PN offset, the sys-
tem time, the long code status,
information about the paging
channel, the system ID and the
network ID.
The data rate is always 1200
bps.
