Transition State "Send SMS"
"Send SMS" is available only if an MS is in "Registered" or "Connected" state. A SMS
can be sent irrespective of the current primary service class, i.e. for all speech, loop-
back, test and packet data services.
The "Send SMS" softkey intermediately sets up a call to the MS. If no MS is registered
the user defined IMSI (see
chapter 4.3.9.4, "Mobile Settings"
locate the target MS. Afterwards the R&S
CMW delivers a short message to the MS
and returns to the "Registered" or "Connected" state.
For details about send and receive SMS by the R&S
Transition State "Send Broadcast"
"Send Broadcast" is available as soon as the cell is on. The R&S
CMW transmits the
configured broadcast message, see
4.2.8 Handoff
A handoff is the process of transferring an ongoing call or data connection from one
network to another. The R&S
CMW supports CDMA2000 dual-band handoff between
different CDMA2000 band classes and RF channels. The "Handoff..." hotkey appears
as soon as the R&S
CMW enters the connected state. See section
A Handoff includes:
1. selection of the destination band class and channel
2. start of the handoff.
After successful handoff, the connection is continued in the new band, using the
specified channel.
4.2.9 Physical Forward Channels
The radio resources in a CDMA2000 system are divided into physical channels charac-
terized by a specific Walsh code.
4.2.9.1
Channel Overview
A forward CDMA signal consists of multiple physical channels. All of them are transmit-
ted on the same nominal channel frequency and separated by the orthogonal Walsh
Codes (see
chapter 4.2.9.2, "Channelization Codes"
The R&S
CMW generator provides a forward CDMA signal which comprises Pilot
Channel (F-PICH), Synchronization Channel (F-Sync), Paging Channel (F-PCH), Fun-
