Replacing the Node Chassis

4. If installed, remove the optional interface cards installed in PCIe slots 4, 5, and 7 (see
Expansion Card in Riser 2 or 3 on page 100
).
Installing a Replacement Node
To install the replacement DXi6900-S Node:
1. Install the drives from the failed Node in the correct locations in the replacement Node (see
Node Solid State Drive on page 73
).
Caution:
You
must
install each solid state drive in its correct location. If the solid state drive
locations are not correct, the system will not function.
2. If applicable, install the optional interface cards in the replacement Node (see
Card in Riser 2 or 3 on page 100
).
3. Install the replacement Node in the rack (see
Opening and Closing the Node on page 63
).

5. Run
Factory Detect Hardware
from the
Service Menu
to detect the new hardware (see
).
6. Install the original system serial number on the new Node:
Note:
The system serial number is located on the label holder affixed to the upper right corner of
the rear of the Node. The system serial number includes the letters
BVW
.
a. Access the
Service Menu

b. Navigate to
Serial Numbers > Set System Serial Number
.
c. Follow the prompts to set the system serial number.
7. If the DXi6900-S is configured for NAS, OST, VTL, or PTT, perform the following actions:

NAS and OST
- Disjoin and rejoin the Active Directory Domain or Workgroup on the
Configuration > NAS > Windows Domain
page in the remote management console.
l
VTL and PTT
- Restart the host systems.
8. In the remote management console, delete any administrative alerts and close any service tickets.
