Hard Drive Carrier Indicators
Each hard drive carrier has two LED indicators (see
):
• Drive activity indicator (green)
•
Flashing
- Indicates hard disk drive activity.
• Drive failure indicator (green and amber)
•
Off
- Drive ready for insertion or removal
Note:
The drive status indicator remains off until all hard
drives are initialized after system power is applied.
Drives are not ready for insertion or removal during this
time.
•
Blinks green two times per second
- Identify drive/preparing
for removal
•
Blinks green, amber, and off
- Drive predicted failure
•
Blinks amber four times per second
- Drive failed
•
Blinks green slowly
- Drive rebuilding
•
Steady green
- Drive online
•
Blinks green three seconds, off three seconds, amber three
seconds, and off three seconds
- Rebuild aborted
Note:
If a drive fails, you will be notified by an admin alert in the
remote management pages (see
Caution:
All drives are hot swappable. When replacing drives,
never remove more than one drive at a time from a
RAID set. After removing a drive, first wait one minute.
Then insert a working drive and wait for the RAID set to
finish rebuilding (red indicator light is off) before
removing another drive. For information about RAID
