DXpedition mode
When running an event such as a SOTA or POTA activation,
activating a national park, or any other time where you are
calling CQ and having stations answer you, it is sometimes
desirable to keep things moving along quickly and maximize
the QSO rate.
The SideKar Extreme offers the DXpedition mode of operating,
which reduces 2 specific time delays:
1.
When entering the call of another station using
Alt-C,
the “Back to Real Time” message on the screen is
eliminated. This allows you to enter the call and
immediately press a function key to send a message,
such as “KF0UR TU ur 599 CO”, to respond to
someone quickly.
2.
When saving a log entry, there is a screen to inform you
the save was successful. The time “Saving QSO xx” is
reduced, so after logging you can very quickly send the
next message
, such as “TU de KF0UR QRZ”.
To access the DXpedition mode, press
Alt-A
until you see
“Log: DXpedition”.
Logging
Some basic logging features are available when using the
SideKar Extreme. While it does not try to replicate a full blown
log or contest logging program, it does allow you to capture the
basic QSO information easily and export it to a standard ADIF
file.
